Why did scholars interpret the six days in the Qur’an as eras or stages, while the verses indicate that they are days like the known days of this world, and the duration of creation does not contradict Allah’s power in "Be!"?

"Today, the word 'day' is used linguistically to refer to the period between sunrise and sunset, or to a duration of time, such as 'the days of war.' What supports the idea that the intended meaning of 'days' is not the ordinary, known days, is that the ordinary day resulted from the Earth's rotation around itself, whereas the discourse about the creation of the heavens and the Earth preceded this system."
