Marriage to a chaste woman from the People of the Book is permissible, but a mother's anger incurs Allah's wrath. It is not permissible to proceed with this marriage if the mother is not pleased with it, unless the son fears falling into disobedience of Allah with the woman from the People of the Book. He must try to convince his mother that Islamic law permits marriage to women from the People of the Book, as Allah Almighty says: "and the chaste women from those who were given the Scripture before you." If the mother consents and the woman from the People of the Book is chaste, then there is no objection; otherwise, it is not permissible to disobey her.
