Do repeated pronouncements of divorce by an angry husband constitute three irrevocable divorces, especially given that one of the pronouncements occurred during the wife's pregnancy?
If the husband issues divorces (talāqāt) with explicit words or allusions accompanied by intention, then the wife becomes unlawful to him and does not become lawful for him again until she marries another husband in a marriage of desire and he divorces her after consummation. The divorce of a pregnant woman after a revocable divorce (irtijāʿ) is a divorce and is effective by the agreement of jurists. Cursing the husband, insulting him, and beating his wife are forbidden, unless the beating is within the permissible guidelines. The divorce of an angry person is valid unless his anger is so severe that it leads to a lack of awareness.
