Is it permissible for a woman to work as a designer of medicine advertisements, and is the use of images of women and men in these designs forbidden?
It is permissible to use photographic images of men or women in medicine advertisements if it is necessary to illustrate how to use the medication or its effect, while restricting the use to the extent of necessity. As for manual or computer-generated drawings, they are not permissible unless the image is so incomplete that it does not constitute a picture of a living being, such as being headless. Furthermore, the images must not display women's 'awrat (parts that must be covered) or allurements, and the content of the advertisement must conform to reality. It is permissible for a woman to work in this field if it is from her home or a place where she does not mix with non- men.
