What should a husband do regarding his wife who is asking for a divorce and removing her niqab under pressure from her father, after suffering from sorcery?
Scholars have differed regarding the permissibility of a woman uncovering her face in front of non-mahram men. What is deemed authoritative by us is its impermissibility. If you follow those who permit it, then there is no harm in your wife going out without a niqab, as long as the fitna (temptation/disorder) is assured not to occur. However, if you follow those who say it is obligatory to cover the face, then you must order your wife to cover her face and explain to her its ruling and its virtue, and that her obedience to you is obligatory and takes precedence over her obedience to her father. If she does not obey you, then you may discipline her and employ the means of rectification prescribed by Islamic law.
