What is the ruling on motivational sales techniques in e-commerce, such as: displaying inaccurate customer reviews, offering a limited-time discount, or giving the impression of scarce availability? And what is the ruling on transferring product reviews from another website while disclosing their source?
It is not permissible to promote goods through deception, fraud, and lies, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Whoever deceives us is not of us," and he said: "The two parties to a transaction have the option as long as they have not parted. If they are truthful and clarify, they will be blessed in their transaction. If they lie and conceal, the blessing of their transaction will be erased." The jurists have agreed on the prohibition of deception. As for transferring buyers' comments about the product from another website, while clarifying that they are transferred, there is no harm in it as long as it is not known that they are incorrect.
