Is it permissible to allocate one-third of the inheritance to the mother, in addition to her legal share, as compensation for her expenditure and sacrifices in raising the children?

A will in favor of a mother is not permissible unless it is ratified by the adult and mature heirs, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Indeed, Allah has given every rightful person his right, so there is no will for an heir," and his saying: "A will for an heir is not permissible, unless the heirs wish it."

However, it is permissible for you to gift her whatever you wish from your wealth during your health and sound judgment, even if she is not in need. This is an act of filial piety and maintaining ties with her. A son must spend on his parents if they are poor and the son is well-off, based on the Almighty's saying: "And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him, and to parents, do good." (Quran 17:23) And among doing good is spending on them when they are in need. Also, the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Indeed, the purest of what a man consumes is from his own earnings, and his child is from his earnings." The scholars have unanimously agreed on the obligation of maintaining poor parents by their children.
