Is a wife whose husband has died permitted to perform the Eid prayer?

A widow must remain in her husband's home until her 'iddah (waiting period) concludes, based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) statement to Furay'ah bint Malik: "Stay in the house where the news of your husband's death reached you until the prescribed period reaches its end." She is not permitted to leave except out of necessity or dire need. Leaving for Eid prayer does not fall under this, as stated by a group of scholars such as Ash-Shawkani and Ibn 'Uthaymeen.
