Is it permissible to ask the righteous Awliya’ullah (friends of Allah) about matters of the unseen, and is it permissible to use what a sheikh has recited as ruqyah (exorcism/healing through prayer) when he claims to know matters of the unseen and uses prayer beads (tasbih) in the ruqyah and does not recite the Qur’an audibly, and is this considered disbelief (kufr)?

The legitimacy of the ruqyah must be verified. If its meaning is understandable and does not contradict Islamic law, then there is no harm. However, if its meaning is not understood, it must be abandoned due to the possibility of shirk (polytheism). It is not permissible to ask righteous people about the absolute unseen, as its knowledge is exclusively with Allah. As for the oil used in ruqyah, it is advisable to avoid it if what was recited over it contains any doubt. It is not permissible to accuse anyone of magic without proof. If there is a strong suspicion of being afflicted by it, then legitimate ruqyah from righteous individuals is recommended, while being wary of charlatans and imposters.
