The answer

The waiting period () for divorce is obligatory for a woman with whom intercourse has occurred. The iddah of a pregnant woman ends upon childbirth. The maintenance () of a non-rebellious wife, and the maintenance of young children, is not waived for the father. It is permissible for the wife to take what suffices her and her child from her husband's money, in a reasonable manner, if she finds it.

There should be no haste in seeking divorce or khul‘ (divorce at the wife's instance with compensation), but rather reconciliation is the original principle. Spouses should treat each other with kindness. Polygyny is permissible for a man who is able to be just, and it has legislative wisdoms. The husband should seek wisdom in it and not make it a source of dispute that could lead to the family's dispersion.
