The answer

One who abandons prayer is in grave danger, and must observe it diligently, for it is the most emphasized of obligations and the first thing a servant will be questioned about. The performance of acts other than prayer by one who abandons prayer contains good, God willing. However, some scholars believe that one who completely abandons prayer is a disbeliever whose deeds are not accepted, while the majority view is that their deeds are accepted unless there is a legal impediment. If a person is in need of the money with which he would sponsor an orphan, it is more befitting to prioritize himself, his family, or his needy relatives, because charity given to a kin is both an act of charity and an act of maintaining ties of kinship.
