Why does a man's testimony equal that of two women in Islam?

It is not permissible to seclude oneself with a non-mahram woman or to enter upon her unless a mahram is present, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "No man should seclude himself with a woman unless a mahram is with her."

As for a woman's testimony, the Holy Quran stipulates that the testimony of two women is equivalent to that of one man. This is stated in His (the Almighty's) saying: "And bring to witness two witnesses from among your men. And if there are not two men, then one man and two women." The reason for this is that a woman is characterized by emotions and impulses that may affect her testimony, in addition to the real differences between men and women in the mental sphere, as studies have shown.
