Does viewing pornography and videos, accompanied by imagining and mentally practicing images of fornication and masturbation, necessitate a waiting period ('iddah)? Is this considered fornication that mandates a waiting period? And does repentance require additional action beyond regret, abstention, and the resolve not to return to the sin?

All praise is due to Allah, who guided the questioner to repent from these丑恶 acts. Repentance is valid by abandoning sins, resolving not to return to them, and regretting having committed them. If these conditions are met, Allah obliterates past misdeeds, for the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "The one who repents from sin is like one who has no sin." The questioner is not required to observe an iddah (waiting period), and she should increase in good deeds and acts of obedience, for "indeed, good deeds do away with evil deeds."
