Maintaining ties of kinship (silat al-rahim) is legislated for every relative, whether they are righteous or sinful. There is no specific method or fixed measure for it; rather, it varies according to circumstances and customs, and it is achieved through visiting, communicating, and anything that custom considers a form of connection.

Among the greatest forms of connection is advising them and forbidding them from the evil of drug trafficking, clarifying the ruling of Islamic law on this matter, and explaining that money earned from it is unlawful (haram). If advice is ineffective and you believe that boycotting them would deter them from the evil, then do so. Otherwise, maintain ties with them.

It is not permissible to partake of their wealth if it is entirely derived from this forbidden trade. If a visit compels you to eat from it, then do not visit them and suffice with communication. In all cases, you must advise them and clarify the Islamic legal ruling.
