Therefore, a Muslim should be keen on maintaining them through various means such as visiting, calling, spending, and giving gifts. Obedience to one's father is obligatory, even if relatives harbor ill will, unless there is a fear of harm from them, such as theft of property. In such a case, one may limit the kinship ties to phone calls, while still being kind to the father."
