If the husband is unjust and abusive in his marital relationship, there is no blame upon the wife for disliking him, for turning away from him, or for refraining from speaking with him for fear of harm. It is advised to reach an understanding with him, to ascertain the reasons for his ill-treatment, to rectify any shortcomings on the wife's part regarding his rights, and to gently counsel him to treat her kindly. If this does not prove beneficial, sensible people should intervene to reconcile them. If reconciliation is not possible, the wife can consult with her family and weigh the harm of divorce against the harm of remaining with him, choosing the lesser of the two harms.
