What is the ruling on vocalizing the remembrances (dhikr) after prayer in the plural form instead of the singular; and is it better to adhere to what was narrated from the Prophet, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, in the singular form?
Changing pronouns in supplications from plural to singular or dual, and from masculine to feminine, to align with the state of the supplicant or the one being supplicated for, is permissible and there is no harm in it, for the door of supplication is wide. Sheikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah was asked about a woman who persistently said: "O Allah, I am Your servant and the son of Your servant," and she was told: "Say, 'Your female servant and the daughter of Your female servant,'" but she refused. He replied that she was correct. Likewise, Sheikh Ibn Baz responded that the matter in this regard is broad, and it is better for a woman to say: "O Allah, I am Your female servant and the daughter of Your servant and the daughter of Your female servant," but if she supplicates using the wording found in the , it does not harm her, because even though she is a female servant, she is a servant among the servants of Allah.
