Is it permissible to masturbate when sexual thoughts and desires intensify in order to avoid pain and swelling, and to be able to study and worship properly, or is patience obligatory? Is it forbidden to fondle the penis without ejaculating? What is the definition of "Nadh" (sprinkling) for purifying clothes from madhiy (pre-ejaculatory fluid)? Is it obligatory to repeat the prayer if madhiy is found after the prayer, or if sexual thoughts occur during the prayer and one is not certain if madhiy has been discharged?

Masturbation is forbidden and has many negative effects; it is a disease, not a cure. Its cure lies in diverting the self from pursuing desires, occupying it with acts of obedience and permissible things, consistently fasting and engaging in physical exercise, keeping company with righteous friends, and hastening to marry. It is not permissible to tamper with the male organ in pursuit of lust, even if ejaculation does not occur.

As for purifying clothes, the majority of scholars hold that it is obligatory to wash them until the impurity is removed. The Hanbalis, however, are of the opinion that it suffices to sprinkle water on the spot on the clothes touched by madhi (pre-seminal fluid), and this is the more correct view. Sprinkling (nadh) according to Ahmad means pouring water without washing or scrubbing.

If doubt arises about the emission of madhi during prayer, you are not required to interrupt or repeat it, unless you are certain of its emission during the prayer or before it.
