Is spending in the cause of Allah different from spending seeking His pleasure, or are they one and the same?

Spending "in the way of Allah" often refers to jihad, and though it encompasses all good, its absolute usage primarily denotes jihad. As for "seeking the pleasure of Allah," this means seeking His contentment, which is sincerity, and it can be in spending for jihad or other good deeds such as charity.
