The father abandoning financial support for his daughters and wife and severing ties with them is a grave sin, and he must repent and fulfill their rights. The father's guardianship (wilayah) in marriage is not forfeited due to his failure to provide support; rather, it remains his, except in cases of 'adal (unjust obstruction), where he rejects suitable suitors without a legitimate শরعي reason. In such a case, his guardianship is revoked, and the judge transfers it to the next guardian in line.
