How can children be raised upon religious commitment and righteousness, and to memorize the Qur'an, without falling into extremism and rigidity in religion?

It is advisable not to be overly strict with one's son in matters of religious practice and the pursuit of knowledge, as this may lead to his deviation or his falling into the clutches of extremism.

To protect a son from extremism, the following means can be adopted: 1. Instill in him correct and moderate religious practice. 2. Constantly remind him of the danger of extremism and its dire consequences, citing Quranic verses and prophetic hadiths such as the Almighty's saying: "O People of the Scripture, do not exaggerate in your religion" and the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Indeed, this religion is easy, and no one will ever overpower it." 3. Connect him with trustworthy and moderate scholars and sheikhs. 4. Hold sessions at home to study books that reinforce correct religious practice and warn against extremism. 5. Choose righteous company for him that follows the path of correct religious practice. 6. Warn him against following suspicious websites and accounts that advocate extremism. 7. supplicate for his guidance and protection from deviation and aberration.
