Is the principle of gradualism in acts of obedience restricted to supererogatory acts (sunan), or does it include obligatory acts (fara'id), taking into account the phased prohibition of alcohol?

A Muslim must perform what Allah has obligated upon him and avoid what He has forbidden, except for what he is unable to do. If the matter oscillates between gradual progression in acts of obedience and avoiding prohibitions, or remaining in the current state, then he should gradually progress, seeking Allah's help. As for recommended acts (mustahabbat) and disliked acts (makruhat), they are areas for gradual progression and elevation through supererogatory acts (nawafil) until Allah loves him.
