Is it true that some imams saw the Lord of Glory in a dream? What is the legal proof for that? How can He be seen? And how does one know that it is Allah?

Scholars have agreed upon the permissibility and validity of seeing Allah in a dream. There is no specific form in which Allah is seen; rather, the one who sees Him will see Him in a form according to their state. If they are righteous, they will see Him in a good form. A dream vision differs from a waking vision and has interpretations and meanings. Among the signs of a truthful dream is that the form seen therein does not resemble creation and that it conforms to the Sharia. If it commands something that contradicts the Sharia, that indicates that what was seen was Satan and not Allah.
