Is one who is called to Fajr prayer and refuses, out of laziness, considered an unbeliever, given that the caller is a common person? And is one who abandons prayer entirely considered an unbeliever if he only prays Jummah?

According to the majority of scholars, abandoning prayer does not constitute a major disbelief that expels one from the fold of Islam. Therefore, for those who pray only on Fridays, they are not considered disbelievers by these scholars. However, they are committing one of the greatest sins. Ibn al-Qayyim transmitted the consensus of Muslims that intentionally abandoning obligatory prayers is among the greatest sins and major transgressions, and its sin in the sight of Allah is greater than the sin of murder, fornication, theft, and drinking alcohol. As for the condition of calling upon the one who abandons prayer, among those who consider it an act of disbelief, the relied-upon view among the Hanbalis—in the narration where they deem it a major disbelief—is the condition that the Imam or his deputy calls upon him.
