You must purify your intention for Allah and resolve to repent and hasten to it, for Allah is Forgiving and Merciful to those who seek His forgiveness, as stated in His saying, the Most High: "And whoever does evil or wrongs himself then seeks forgiveness of Allah will find Allah Forgiving and Merciful." Among the helpful supplications for this are: "Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers," and "My Lord, grant my soul its piety and purify it, for You are the best of those who purify it," and "O Allah, do not make the worldly life our greatest concern," and "O Allah, Turner of hearts, keep my heart firm on Your religion." One should frequently seek forgiveness while bringing to mind sincere repentance.
