Am I subject to the ruling regarding one who dislikes what Allah has revealed, so that my deeds become worthless, because I wished not to obey the ruler in truth, as long as he had commanded other things that were not true, and then I recanted that?

Obeying those in authority is obligatory unless they command disobedience, in accordance with the Almighty's saying: O you who have believed, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. And if you disagree over anything, refer it to Allah and the Messenger, if you should believe in Allah and the Last Day. That is better and [more suitable for] ultimate interpretation. And the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Listening and obeying are incumbent upon a Muslim, in what he likes and dislikes, unless he is commanded to commit a sin. If he is commanded to commit a sin, then there is no listening and no obedience." And "There is no obedience to a creature in disobedience to the Creator." And "Obedience is only in what is good." Justice must be upheld and there should be no hatred for Allah's rulings due to the oppression of rulers, in accordance with the Almighty's saying: And let not the hatred of a people prevent you from being just. Be just; that is nearer to righteousness. Faith is not complete unless the Messenger (peace be upon him) is made the arbiter in all matters and his judgment is accepted with satisfaction and submission. Forgiveness for forgetfulness is hoped for, in accordance with the Almighty's saying: Our Lord, do not impose blame upon us if we have forgotten or erred, and the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "Allah has pardoned my Ummah for mistakes, forgetfulness, and what they are forced to do."
