Can a person be a hypocrite without being aware of it, and what are the signs of hypocrisy, and how can one get rid of it?

Hypocrisy is of two types: major hypocrisy, which expels one from the faith and relates to belief, and minor hypocrisy, which does not expel one from the faith and is called practical hypocrisy. A believer may fear hypocrisy for themselves, as the righteous predecessors did, for a sign of faith is caution against hypocrisy, and a sign of hypocrisy is not fearing it. Among the signs of hypocrisy are lying, treachery, betrayal, breaking promises, and siding with the enemies of Allah. The solution lies in sincerity to Allah, staying away from the causes of hypocrisy, and supplicating to Allah: "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from associating partners with You knowingly, and I seek Your forgiveness for what I do not know."
