Does the hypocrite realize his hypocrisy, and how does one ensure they are not hypocritical, and what are the actions that may lead to hypocrisy unknowingly?

A person's knowledge of being a hypocrite depends on their awareness of the characteristics of hypocrites. A Muslim must know the characteristics of hypocrisy, both in belief and in practice, to avoid them. They should also fear hypocrisy for themselves, as the believers feared it, and only hypocrites felt secure from it. Umar used to ask Hudhayfah about himself, and Ibn Abi Mulayka met thirty Companions, all of whom feared hypocrisy for themselves.
