Am I entitled to the dowry, and what is its value, if I request a divorce from my husband who has عقد قرانه عليَّ (solemnized his marriage contract with me), but has not paid me the advanced dowry of 5,0 dinars, and is seeking to divorce me without paying the deferred dowry of 5,0 dinars?

It is not the husband's right to order his wife to request a divorce in order to forfeit her right to the dower, nor is it permissible for him to deny her this right without a legitimate reason.

The basic principle is that the wife is entitled to the full dower (both prompt and deferred) if her husband divorces her after consummation, and half of it if he divorces her before consummation. Allah Almighty says: "And give women their dowries with a good heart."

It is not permissible for the husband to deny her anything she is entitled to, unless the divorce is in exchange for a ransom from her, as Allah Almighty says: "But if you fear that they will not uphold the limits of Allah, then there is no blame upon them for what she gives to free herself."

Accordingly, if your husband divorces you before consummation, you are entitled to half of the dower (5000 dinars), and if he divorces you after consummation, you are entitled to the full dower (10000 dinars). If you have already received the prompt dower, you are entitled to the deferred dower when its time comes due.

And if it is possible to agree on the continuation of the marital life, that is better, for Allah Almighty says: "And reconciliation is better."
