The guideline for permissible and forbidden mixing is detailed in No. 131445. What is meant by "trips organized with the intention of gathering men and women" is that the gathering is a primary purpose of the trip, as opposed to a gathering that is accidental and unplanned. Excessive questioning and delving into minute details are blameworthy in Islamic law, due due to the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "What I have forbidden you, avoid; and what I have commanded you, do as much of it as you can. For indeed, what destroyed those before you was their excessive questioning and their differing with their prophets."
