Is it permissible for a person who is a carrier of the the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) but is not afflicted with the disease to masturbate?
Firstly: It is permissible for a virus carrier or an AIDS patient to marry a healthy or infected woman, provided she agrees after being informed of his condition. It is also permissible for them to agree not to procreate or engage in intercourse. It is permissible for the husband to masturbate with his wife's hand. He must inform her of his illness; otherwise, it would be a forbidden deception that grants her the right to annul the marriage.
Secondly: Masturbation is forbidden, but it is permissible for an AIDS patient to masturbate if he cannot marry and fears falling into fornication, in order to commit the lesser of two harms. Some scholars have permitted this in cases of necessity, such as fear of fornication or illness.
