When does a sorcerer become an infidel? And should a sorcerer be killed if it is known that he is one?

Many scholars, including the Malikis and Hanbalis, have asserted that a sorcerer is an absolute disbeliever (kafir) and should be executed. They base their argument on the Almighty's saying: "And Solomon did not disbelieve, but the devils disbelieved, teaching people magic" (Qur'an 2:102), and His saying: "then do not disbelieve." Some scholars, however, hold that a sorcerer does not disbelieve unless his magic involves an act of disbelief or if he believes that magic is not forbidden. They differed on whether his execution is due to apostasy or for spreading corruption.
