Can a human being ever completely stop committing sins, taking into account that "every son of Adam is a sinner"?
Sincere repentance is possible by seeking Allah's help and supplicating Him, by keeping good company, attending gatherings of remembrance (dhikr), seeking beneficial knowledge, and remembering the danger of sins. If a servant returns to sin, he must repeat his repentance and not despair of Allah's mercy. Allah accepts the repentance of those who repent, no matter how many times their sins are repeated or how great they become, as He, the Almighty, said: "Say, 'O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by committing sins], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful.'" (Az-Zumar: 53).
