Peace be upon you. What are Predestination (Jabr) and Free Will (Ikhtiyar)?
Determinism [Jabr] is the denial of a servant's actions and attributing them to Allah, claiming that Allah compels His servants to perform acts of obedience and disobedience. Free will [Ikhtiyar] is the affirmation of a servant's ability to choose good and reject evil. We have previously explained that humankind is both predestined and has free will.
