Am I obligated to fulfill a vow to distribute half of any money I earn without working, especially gifts from my father, to the poor, knowing that I suffer from obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), which affects my memory of vows? And can I be released from this vow?

The answer

You must sincerely seek refuge in Allah and remember Him so that what afflicts you may depart. There is no blame upon you for the blasphemous thoughts of reviling Allah and divorce that come to your mind, as long as they are without your will. However, you must repel these whispers. If you utter a divorce to your wife, the divorce is binding, unless you are unaware of what you are saying or doubt whether you said it. As for vows about which you are unsure, there is nothing upon you concerning them. You must fulfill the prizes you vowed with certainty. Know that participating in the "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" competition is not permissible because it is a form of gambling (). There is no weight to a scholar's if he did not understand your question.
