Is the money paid as compensation for the nuisance caused by the factory, after the original installments for the factory located in the questioner's home have been paid off, halal or haram, and is it permissible to continue taking it?

If you have contracted with the factory owners to place the factory under your house in exchange for monthly installments, then you are not entitled to close it or take money from them in exchange for your silence, based on the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Muslims are bound by their conditions." This is also because it constitutes consuming people's wealth unjustly, as Allah Almighty says: "O you who have believed, do not consume your property among yourselves unjustly."

If the factory produces offensive odors or harmful noises, then you are permitted to stop them, based on the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "There should be no harm nor reciprocating harm." And the jurisprudential rule states: "Harm should be removed." However, taking money in exchange for waiving the right to remove the harm is subject to consideration. While some jurists have permitted it in similar cases, abandoning it is closer to piety and caution, based on the saying of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "Leave what makes you doubt for what does not make you doubt."
