Using images of living beings is prohibited, with the exception of images of non-enticing body parts of humans, and images whose features are not clearly defined. Photographic images of living beings are a matter of scholarly disagreement, and the preponderant view is that they are permissible. However, it is preferable to avoid what is not necessitated by dire need or pressing necessity. It is stipulated that the images must not have been taken from what is impermissible to view, such as photographing women without necessity, or photographing nakedness, and it is forbidden to publish such images. There is no difference between video recording and photographic imaging in terms of ruling. It is not permissible to display video clips in which women appear, nor to watch them except out of necessity and with security from temptation. As for images of fashion related to women, without the woman herself appearing, the default ruling is permissibility, unless they arouse lust or lead to temptation.
