Do the names of the prophets and messengers carry specific meanings, such as the meaning of "earth" for the name Adam?

Narrations from Ibn Abbas, Ali, Sa'id ibn Jubayr, and Al-Suddi mention that Adam was named so because he was created from the surface (adeem) of the earth. This is confirmed by the Hadith (definition) of Abu Musa al-Ash'ari, stating that Allah created Adam from a handful of earth gathered from all over the earth.

Al-Tabari is of the view that "Adam" is a name derived from the verb "ādama," meaning to reach the adamat al-ard (the surface of the earth), its apparent face. It then became the name for the father of humanity.

Ibn Ashour mentioned that the name "Adam" is the name for the father of humanity in the Arabic language. It is also said that it was transferred from Hebrew, where "adamah" means earth, or that the name was known among Arabs and Hebrews from the origin of Semitic languages.

Meanwhile, Al-Jawhari said that the origin of "Adam" is "a'adam" with two hamzas, on the pattern of "af'al," from udmah, which is the color of dark skin. The second hamza was then changed into a long vowel (maddah). He maintained that deriving the name of the color udmah from Adam's name is more plausible than the reverse.
