What is the ruling on placing adhesive tape or drawing with a pen to straighten rows in prayer, and what should be done to quell the discord between those who support it and those who oppose it?

It is obligatory to straighten the rows in prayer. Some scholars are of the view that drawing lines on mosque carpets to straighten the rows is permissible and not an innovation (bid'ah), because it helps establish the prayer correctly. The Permanent Committee for Issuing Fatwas has approved this.
