Is masturbation considered a major or minor sin, and is it recorded against me as a sin when I am compelled to do it, especially as a young man?

Masturbation is forbidden (haram). The most accurate definition of a minor sin (saghirah) is every sin for which there is no prescribed punishment (hadd) in this world and no threat of punishment (wa'id) in the Hereafter. However, masturbation is considered a major sin (kabirah) because it involves disobeying Allah Almighty. Treating minor sins lightly contradicts the glorification of Allah. A minor sin can become a major one if it is accompanied by great corruptions (mafasid), or if there is persistence in it. The persistence that turns a minor sin into a major one is its repetition in a manner that indicates a lack of concern for religion.
