What are the rights of a wife who seeks divorce due to harm, and the rights of her two daughters, in terms of alimony, ‘iddah (waiting period), clothing, and housing? And how much is the wife entitled to if the husband’s salary is 16,000, given that she is the one seeking divorce due to harm?

Since the matter has been brought before the court, it is most appropriate for the court to consider it. The wife is not permitted to request a divorce except for a legitimate reason; otherwise, she is sinful and disobedient (nashiz), and the husband has the right to discipline her and refuse to divorce her until she redeems herself from him. The wife's maintenance is obligatory upon the husband and is forfeited by her disobedience (nushooz), while the children's maintenance is obligatory to the extent of sufficiency, and its estimation is for the court in case of dispute. Reconciliation is advised, and divorce should be avoided as much as possible. If it is not possible, then the separation should be with kindness, in accordance with the Almighty's saying: "But if they separate, Allah will enrich each of them from His abundance. And Allah is ever Encompassing and Wise."
