What is the Sharia ruling regarding a couple returning to each other after the husband divorced his wife three separate times, and [another] single time with three consecutive pronouncements while he was angry and remorseful and wishes to return?
The husband divorced his wife with the first pronouncement, and conditioned the second pronouncement on a contingency. If the contingency is met, the second pronouncement occurs, and then his final divorce is the third, making her irrevocably divorced from him, not permissible for him until she marries another husband. If the conditioned contingency is not met, then it is a single pronouncement. His statement "You are divorced, you are divorced, you are divorced": if he intended emphasis, then it is a single pronouncement added to the first, making it two pronouncements of divorce, and he can reconcile with her. If he intended a new pronouncement or had no intention, then each repetition counts as a pronouncement, making the total four pronouncements, and she is irrevocably divorced from him.
