The question

Is it obligatory to repeat missed prayers in which the opening Takbir (Takbirat al-Ihram) was not performed when resuming the prayer after saluting from two rak'ahs, thinking the prayer was complete? And is the prayer of one who intentionally performed the opening Takbir, even though it is not necessary when saluting without intending to exit the prayer, invalidated?

The answer

If a worshipper, thinking his prayer is complete, says the salutation, then remembers a deficiency shortly thereafter, he should complete it with the intention and a takbir. If he omits the takbir, his prayer is still valid. The worshipper returns to complete his prayer as long as not much time has passed between the salutation and the remembrance.
