How can financial and in-kind rights be claimed from a brother who seizes them, taking into account the presence of the mother who lives with him and who may be affected by the claim, and how can the brother's exploitation of the money given to the mother be stopped?

Your kindness to your mother and brother is among the righteous deeds through which reward and blessing in sustenance and life are hoped for, as stated in the Hadith: "Whoever wishes that his sustenance be expanded and his life prolonged, let him maintain ties of kinship."

You have the choice between forgiving your brother and waiving your right, or demanding it gently while observing the bond of brotherhood. Your demand for your right is not disobedience to your mother. If your soul permits you to waive it to please your mother and seek reward, then you are upon great good.

A person's true wealth is what he has put forth in his life, not what he leaves behind for his heirs, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, his wealth is what he has sent forth, and the wealth of his heir is what he has left behind." And forgiveness increases a servant in honor.
