What is required of one who wishes to repent to Allah? And what is the evidence for that?
Allah commanded the believers to make sincere repentance, and scholars have mentioned conditions for it: abandoning the sin, resolving not to return to it, and regretting having committed it. If the sin involves a right of another human being, then that right must be fulfilled. It is also recommended for the one repenting to distance himself from places of sin and to associate with righteous people.
