Is it permissible to fast and give charity with the intention of having a specific matter fulfilled?

If the original motive for an action is the will to attain the countenance of Allah, then the action is valid, and its doer is rewarded according to his sincerity, even if he also intended a worldly purpose. As for one who performs an action intending nothing but a worldly share, he will only receive what he intended, in accordance with the Almighty’s saying: ﴿Whoever desires the life of this world and its adornments - We fully repay them for their deeds therein, and they therein will not be deprived. Those are the ones for whom there is nothing in the Hereafter but the Fire.﴾ Ibn Abbas stated that whoever performs a righteous deed, such as fasting or prayer, intending nothing but this world, Allah will grant him what he sought in this world and will nullify his deed in the Hereafter. Therefore, whoever has no concern for the Hereafter, or for seeking Paradise or Allah's pleasure, will have no share of reward in the Hereafter for that action of his, and he will be among the losers.
