Is it permissible to speak with another person while performing ablution?

The Maliki school stipulated that it is reprehensible to speak unnecessarily during ablution, other than the remembrance of Allah. This is considered contrary to what is superior by the Shafi'i, Hanafi, and Hanbali schools, and what is meant by reprehensibility is leaving what is superior.
