Can sins be forgiven after marriage? Is marriage a punishment? Are parents punished for their daughter's actions? Do the effects of sins transfer to children? And how can children be protected from that?

Sins may deprive a servant of the joy of life and worship, but no matter how great the sins, sincere repentance erases them. Allah rejoices in those who repent and loves them. The conditions for sincere repentance are: abandoning the sin, regretting it, and resolving not to return to it. If these conditions are met, Allah accepts the servant's repentance and forgives him. Marriage is a blessing, not a punishment, and one who repents from a sin is like one who has no sin. Parents are not held accountable for their children's sins if they did not fall short in their upbringing, for "every soul, for what it has earned, will be [held] in pledge." Fearing punishment for the child due to her parents' sin is incorrect. Rather, she should be well-raised, and the love of Allah and His Messenger instilled in her, accustoming her to virtues, and praying for her.
