Is it permissible for a husband to visit one of his wives during the day designated for another, and spend a long time with her? What is the ruling if the husband comes to his wife on a day designated for another, and does not heed advice? Is it permissible for the wife to refuse to meet him and treat him differently in this situation?

A wife's keenness on justice and avoiding injustice, and on ensuring that her husband does not oppress his other wives, is a sign of piety and good companionship. The Shari'ah commands a husband to be just among his wives. The most important matters in which a husband must be just among his wives are: overnight stays (al-mabit).

If a husband enters upon his wife on a day that is not hers during the daytime merely to show her preference, it is not permissible, and he must compensate the other wife similarly. However, if it is for a need, it is permissible.

If a husband's entry upon his wife is such that she is not allowed to stay, she should gently advise him and remind him of the justice that is obligatory upon him, without harshness in speech, or a frown on her face, and without diminishing his rights, out of consideration for the husband's standing and to preserve love and harmony between the spouses.
