Did the naming of "Cain and Abel" come from sources other than the Qur'an, even though the Qur'an mentioned "the two sons of Adam"?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The names Cain and Abel are not mentioned in the Book of Allah the Almighty, nor in the authentic traditions (Sahih) of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. Allah the Almighty said: "And recite to them the story of Adam's two sons, in truth" (Quran 5:27). And in the Two Sahihs (Bukhari and Muslim) and other collections, it is narrated: "No soul is wrongfully killed but a share of its blood is upon the first son of Adam, because he was the first to initiate killing."
